Description

The Heart Nebula lies some 7500 light years away from Earth and is located in the constellation Cassiopeia. It is nicknamed the Heart Nebula because it looks like a human heart. The nebula glows brightly in red light emitted by its most prominent element: hydrogen. Near the cosmic heart's center are the massive hot stars of a newborn star cluster about 1.5 million years young.
