Description

There was a very bright 3/4 Moon up and I don't know what possessed me when I decided to image M42. I guess because it is a bright object and it was in a position away from the Moon. The light gradients were horrible and made processing difficult. The prize for me when I image this object is the dim bluish grey extended nebulosity out away from the main nebula. I do my best to capture and bring out as much of this nebulosity as I can. However the bright Moon last night washed out most of this dim nebulosity. I'm not complaining. I'm simply explaining. I enjoyed my imaging session and I enjoyed the processing. In fact when the processing becomes more challenging I tend to learn new things. And last night processing this image was no exception. This object has always fascinated me because you can view 20 images of this object and no two images will be exactly alike. With all of that said please enjoy my most recent image of M42.
