Description

in the outskirts of the great Taurus molecular cloud, the California nebula is still surrounded by lots of dust. Actually it is one of the nearest HII regions, about 100 ly away and double the distance to the Taurus complex. This is a pure DSLR color image, no extra H-Alpha added. How bright it stands out!

114x3min subframes, Eos6da at Iso400, Epsilon130ED astrograph on AZ-EQ6 guided and dithered by Lacerta MGEN. Processing with PixInsight and Photoshop.
