Description

While imaging Scorpius, I inadvertantly came across a beautiful DSO that I eventally became aware of over a year later, the False Comet in an area known as the Table of Scorpius. I was trying to get M6 and M7 together with my 180mm lens. After checking the final product, I noticed that the two Messier objects were not centered at all but off to one side. So I set everything aside, and went after another target. Over a year later, as I read an excellent account of the Hershel's, William, Caroline and John where the Table of Scorpius was mentioned as well as the objects that make up the False Comet, I rechecked my past imaging session of Scorpius. There it was, in the lower right hand area of the image, along with the not-so-centered Messier's. So after doing calibration and stacking and tweaking in Photoshop, I present the image here. One of my target's this summer will be a more concentrated look at this beautiful area. Thanks, for looking
