Description

I finally had a couple of hours time with the new scope, and I am a bit frustrated. I aimed on purpose an object that I had imaged before with my 4" refractor, to see what the difference between the new and the old scope is. And I have to admit, I take the image from my old 4" any time. The stars with the new scope seem to be "out of shape". I used SGP to find the best focus, this "seemed" to work pretty well, but maybe it is not. Does anybody have an idea why the stars with the 8" RASA are so fuzzy? Collimation? Any help is appreciated!

To note is that the images with the 8" RASA were unguided 30 second exposures, but I do not think that this makes a big difference, the Losmandy mount is working very well for 30 seconds (at least some good out of the test!).

And I almost forgot ... the image on the left is the image from the RASA, the right one is from the Explore Scientific.

One other part is as well interesting: the Explore Scientific image were 10 minute exposures! I can definitely say that the RASA gathered MUCH quicker the same amount of light!
