Description

NGC 4565 is a magnificent edge-on spiral 30-50 million light years away in Coma Berenices. It looks as if the dusty lane has a subtle twist to it, with the left hand side of the galaxy appearing to be slightly twisted away.
Here it only rises about 34 degrees above the horizon, so the imaging window is short. I managed 8 hours over three nights through the light dome of the city of Perth.
