Description

The image above shows the photometry of the transit of the "sub-Earth" Exoplanet,
WD 1145+017b.
Imaged on 2021 February 14th between 22h 50 - 0h 25 UT

WD 1145+017b is a disintegrating rocky minor planet(planetesimal), transiting the White dwarf star WD 1145+017, located in the constellation Virgo
Distance from Earth is about 570 ly.

This is a really tiny planet with a radius of about 1000 km
It is much smaller than Earth, actually is smaller than our Moon(radius of Moon : 1738 km).
The host star is also a very small star with a radius 1.4 times the radius of the earth, only because of this fact it is possible to do photometry of the transit of such a small planetesimal. The Transit depth is up to about 0,5 mag.
This is the first observed planetary object transiting a white dwarf, discovered by the Kepler space telescope in 2015.

Rev. C shows 3 asteroids that I additionally found in the stacked image 😊
