Description

This object is a small faint galaxy that Caspian Ray imaged for the first time anywhere on Astrobin a few weeks ago. He challenged me to image it as well.

It is located 34 million light years away in the northern constellation of Lynx at a declination of +50 degrees. The 12.6 mag galaxy spans 3 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 30,000 light years

This object is a Magellanic spiral galaxy, which is a type of small galaxy that is considered to be an intermediate between dwarf spiral galaxies and irregular galaxies.

I love the color and structure of this galaxy. It has a yellow central region and blue outer region, with blue star clusters visible throughout. Its arm structure is unique - I can’t even find words to describe its loose shape.
