Description

This large nearby spiral galaxy is a popular target. The arms are accented by rows of hot blue star clusters and pink star forming regions. The outer disk has an apparent gravitational disruption on the right (north) side. What appears to be a plume of red ionized hydrogen rising from the disk is just detectable to the left of the center.

Captured with a monochrome camera and L,R,G,B filters. Below average to poor seeing, but mostly very clear skies. The color is good. Overall a very nice result.
