Description

Having lived in NSW for over 25 years, I had got used to the Galactic centre being overhead at this time of year, with my Scottish upbringing reinforcing that the Milky Way should be viewed "North up".

This is my first winter living at -45 South, when the centre of the Milky Way is now definitely in the North of the sky, and one gains a whole different perspective looking at it "North down".

This picture - rather unremarkable otherwise - celebrates my new perspective.

But from this angle it does look a bit like a creepy cosmic turtle.
