Description

A friend who lives in New Zealand requested an image of M45 or Matariki as it is known in Māori, in time for the celebration of its rising. I've not had much luck imaging Matariki since I outfitted my Z61 with the proper flattener (my only image so far is using the out-of-spec Orion flattener that came with the telescope) so I searched the data from the recently-retired RASC robotic telescope, and discovered data from the piggybacked DSLR when Mars was nearby. Bingo!

There was a considerable amount of coma and chromatic aberration, but BlurXterminator helped a great deal and I feel the stars are tolerable if you don't pixel-peep. This was a quick process, and I'm curious to see how BlurXterminator can help with the other data from the RASC Robotic Telescope & DSLR.

Thanks, K, for the suggestion!
