Description

How do you flatten a mountain range? Throw a big rock at it. Plato Crater (near upper left) was formed by an asteroid impact in the distant past and has completely demolished a 68-mile diameter section of the Alpine mountains. The mountains surround Mare Imbrium (Sea of Rains) and it's one of my favorite regions on the Moon due to the variety of textures found here.
