Description

Also known as the λ Centauri Nebula, is an open cluster with an associated emission nebula found in the constellation Centaurus, near the star λ Centauri. It features Bok globules, which are frequently a site of active star formation. However, no evidence for star formation has been found in any of the globules in IC 2944. All according to Wikipedia. Not easy to see a running chicken in narrowband versions like this one.

This is Ha, Sii and Oiii data from Telescope Live at the El Sauce hosting facility at 1500m elevation in Río Hurtado, Coquimbo Region, Chile. Each channel is 5 x 10 min. So not much total integration time but noise was low (no NR applied) and this 8" f/3 telescope is clearly a light-bucket.

I started off with Ha in the red channel, Sii in green, and Oiii in blue, but then tweaked the colours quite a bit in PS towards a more RGB like image.
