Description

This photo of M8 is the first one I made with a Rasa 8 Celestron Astrograph mounted on an RST 135 mount. No guiding. The telescoop was focused by hand and eye only once at the beginning of the session. It was full moon. The object was at a low altitude, which amazed me because it happens to be the "deep sky object of the month August" of the Dutch magazine "Sterrengids 2020". However, this low altitude allowed me to use the mount in azimuth mode, giving only little field rotation. I used this mode because I could not yet Polar Align at the position the system appeared to be.

I used 50 bias frames to build a SuperBias, and 50 dark frames for a MasterDark. No flats.

Next I will concentrate on Equatorial Mode, better focussing and better PostProcessing. But still no guiding, because I want to find out if guiding is necessary with this very fast scope.

At this moment I feel very happy with this photograph, the first one I made after a long period of time.

Description: In this version I applied the "star de-emphasis" technique of Adam Block. And I increased the contrast in the nebula.
