Description

NGC 6845, PGC 63978, PGC 63979 and PGC 63986 form an interacting system of four galaxies (quartet) in the southern constellation Telescopium.   At 300 Mly distance, the galaxies appear small (around 1 arcmin) and also dim at magnitudes 13.10, 14.89, 15.83, and 14.56.  If they were closer I'd imagine they'd form a quite a spectacle and garner substantial interest.  Below shows a 7.8 x 6.1 arcmin crop.

The luminance data, from the RC10A, pre-dated some improvements in collimation that I made. So I ended up cropping off a major part of the image (originally the galaxies were centred in the capture frame). The RGB data comes from the RC8. There were 16 sessions of data capture (luminance and color), from August 2021 to May 2022.

The bright star is (unresolved) double star HD 189307 and is 6th magnitude and, hence, not visible to the naked eye from my outer suburban site (Bortle 5).
