Description

M13, The Great Hercules Cluster. My first ever Globular Cluster. These clusters are giant balls of stars, typically around 150 light-years wide and containing > 100,000 stars, which live outside the main body of our galaxy, forming a halo. They mostly contain older stars. This cluster is just about visible to the naked eye, easily visible between Vega and Arcturus towards the South.

Image 1 66 x 4s, Image 2 75 x 2s. 10 Darks, live stacked in SharpCap. Celestron Astromaster 130eq with Motor Drive, T7C astrocam (ZWO ASI120MC clone), edited in Photoshop
