Description

NGC 5396 (also listed as NGC 5375 in the catalog) is a magnitude 12 spiral galaxy in Canes Venatici. It is 110 million light years away.

I like the look of the galaxy and the stars around. There is a butterfy-like asterism in the north-east direction near the galaxy.

This image is one of my first attempts at "long" exposure astrophotography. However this galaxy definitely needs longer exposure time. Also the collimation and tracking was not good enough.

The NGC 5396 is still on my todo list. Hopefully next year I'll be able to get a better image of this interesting galaxy.
