Checking up on Jupiter and 12P/Pons-Brooks comet the evening before the day of the solar eclipse of Apr 8, 2024 from the vicinity of Comfort, TX (local elevation +495m), taking advantage of the local clearing in the clouds that would end up closing in the morning of Apr 8, 2024 for that location.
Single exposure (8s, f/1.4, ISO200, F=4.7mm (24mm in 35mm equivalent)) with camera on tripod.
In spite of local source of light pollution present, the head of the comet 12P/Pons-Brooks was clearly visible, along with Jupiter (-2.0m, 5.85au away) and Uranus (+5.8m, 20au away), as illustrated in the image below (also by the revision C).
The head of the comet looked roughly as bright as Epsilon Ari also present in this image, so about as bright as +4.6m. Expectantly, out of this arrangement of objects only Jupiter was detected against the sky backdrop in the wide angle images produced with the same setup during the total solar eclipse the next day, as reported under [1].
