NGC4755 - Kappa Crucis in Southern Cross

I did this image more to test the collimation of my GSO RC-8 and the right position of the flattener respect to the sensor plane, with the RC-8 set in its native focal ratio of f/8. Important to say that there is no crop on this image just a re-scale of 1to 2 during the processing to speed up the operations.

The camera used was a ST8300C at -15C. The scope was guided by a Lodestar CCD in an OAG assembled on a StarlightExpress filter Wheel with the clear filter positioned in the train.

I used a Flattener from Astrotech and found 72mm to be the optimum distance to the CCD. With the filter wheel, OAG and the back focus of the ST8300C, I had to complete the distance with a spacer of 0.8 inch.

I am very happy with the result.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
