Description

This region includes Sh2 -215, a small emission nebula visible in the constellation of Perseus . It is located in the eastern part of the constellation, about 3 ° to ENE of the star ε Persei. It is a very small H II region , located on the Orion arm at a distance of only 200  parsecs (about 650 light years );  this indicates that it is one of the closest ionized gas nebulae to the Solar System . Despite this, it has been the subject of very few studies. Physically it is a few parsecs away from nearby Sh2-214 and both are about 30 parsecs from the bright ε Persei, part of the great stellar association Perseus OB3.
