Description

M37 - Open Cluster in the constellation Auriga

There are over 500 stars in this cluster, with about 150 visible in this image. It's in the same spiral arm of the galaxy as ourselves, making it relatively close-by at 4500 light years away, and it's between 350-550 million years old.

I'm currently on my "astro vacation" in Gila, NM, under gorgeous clear, dark skies. I've really enjoyed looking at this particular cluster while I've been here. I've done a lot of imaging here but not much processing, but I wanted to share this one while I'm still here.
