Description

he Iris Nebula, also known as NGC 7023, is a bright reflection nebula located in the constellation Cepheus. It is approximately 1,300 light-years away from Earth and spans about 6 light-years in diameter. The nebula gets its name from its resemblance to the iris of an eye. The Iris Nebula is a type of reflection nebula, which means that its light comes from a nearby bright star that reflects off the surrounding dust. The dominant color of the nebula is blue, giving it a beautiful and ethereal appearance.Within the Iris Nebula, there is a hot, young star surrounded by dusty nebular material. This combination of the star's light and the reflection off the dust creates the stunning visual display we observe.
