NGC 7204

This Astrobin Debut Object is a pair of interacting magnitude 14 edge-on galaxies located 120 million light years away in the constellation of Pisces Austrinus at a declination of -31 degrees. A short star stream bridge connects the 2 galaxies. The whole object is only 1 arc-minute wide.

The larger lower left galaxy, LEDA 2801173, is 40,000 light years in diameter. It has a large orange central section, a blue star cloud on the left edge, and numerous dust lanes cutting across the disk.

The small upper right blue galaxy, LEDA 68054, is 30,000 light years in diameter. It appears to be more disturbed than its companion.

I also like the barred ring galaxy (NGC 7203) at the bottom of the image. This galaxy, 60,000 light years in diameter, is the same distance away from us as the subject NGC 7204 pair above.
