Description

M65 Galaxy  M 65 (also known as NGC 3623) is a spiral galaxy visible in the constellation Leo. It was discovered by Pierre Méchain in 1780. M65 forms a clearly visible triplet of galaxies, the Leo Triplet, together with its neighbors: the spiral galaxy M66 and the spiral galaxy NGC 3628.  M65 is fairly easy to locate, thanks to its location exactly midway between the stars θ Leonis and ι Leonis; although it is also at the limit of the range of 10x50 binoculars, this galaxy is much better observed with telescopes starting from 150mm aperture. With a 300mm it appears as a silver colored spindle, arranged in a north-south direction, while the halo is crossed by a dark band of dust  My friend Bruno Monteleone has granted the processing of some shots of him ... I started with this beautiful galaxy ... I hope you like it.  Technical data:  Optics: RC GSO 10" F8 @F6 Reducer: Riccardi M63 Chamber: Asi 1600MM, temperature -30° Optolong LRGB filters Frame: 10 Micron GM 1000 HPS  L : 13x 5 minutes A : 6x 5 minutes D : 6x 5 minutes B : 6x 5 minutes  Ardor Marina (RC)
