Revision B update:

This is a 9 panel mosaic shot from my backyard with 10 hours total exposure time. Canon 6Ds and Samyang 135/2 used.

I'm looking forward to re-shooting this again in late 2023 (and the years ahead if needed) from dark skies. This area has the potential to produce epic photos, but I don't think I can do it from my backyard.

Original Revision A:

This is a wide feild reference image for the normalisation of mosaic project I have planned for this area. The weather hasn't been co-operating, so I haven't ventured out to dark skies to shot the actual mosaic. Instead I have been compiling imaging time on this framing whenever possible from my backyard over the last few weeks.

Basically I left the camera out all night on 6 occasions, then sifted through the cloud free exposures to come up with the 7.5 hours of integration shown. Not the most efficient imaging, but between the short summer nights, the constant cloud, and the light pollution, I'm just happy to have something worth processing.

I find the dust line between the LMC and the SMC to be fascinating, so I'm keen to keep imaging this area in the future
