Description

This is some data I caught of 19P from my backyard, captured just a month before its February 1st perihelion.  I've always had a thing for comets, and it has been my dream to capture comets for a very long time.

Honestly, it wasn't very good data to begin with and not a lot of it - and I will never show my first effort with the image (yikes!) - but the processing provided some great lessons in how to squeeze a decent picture out of less than desirable data.  It was punishment enough though to improve my acquisition technique for sure.  More comets to come!

The craft of capturing comets is very different.  As different as capturing planetary is vs deep space objects.  Lots of different technique and considerations, both in acquisition and processing.  Also I like how dynamic comets are... I liken it to imaging the sun as another object that is constantly changing appearance.
