Description

Lynd's Dark Nebula (LDN) 1622 in Orion is revealed against the background of glowing hydrogen gas.  To some, the dark shape resembles a mythical boogeyman.  The brighter reflection nebula, vdB 62, is above and right of LDN 1622.  Both lie close to the plane of the Milky Way and close visually to Bernard's Loop at the upper right.  LDN 1622 is about 1500 light years away.

Imaged over several nights:  Nov 20, 23, 27, 29-30; Dec 4, 7-9, 11, 2023.
