Description

I consider myself extremely lucky to have gotten this shot.

I was out taking Milky Way pictures by the coast in Oregon during the Perseids. I had my reading glasses on in order to see what I was doing (ah, the joys of getting old).  When two Perseids flashed above me at the same time and at roughly the same angle, I thought it was some optical oddity resulting from wearing the glasses halfway down my nose. As soon as the 13 second capture was done, imagine my delight to see that both of them were in the captured picture! Needless to say, this is one of my favorite images from the trip!

If you've ever driven down the Oregon coast road (Hwy 101), you might recognize this location. It's just outside of Garibaldi, and very literally on the side of the road. If you go, make sure to take a safety vest!! There aren't a lot of cars at night, but they're not expecting to see photographers in the dark...

The birds on the tree are cormorants.
