Description

The Andromeda Galaxy is an object that anyone can image, but presents a surprising depth of challenge. I like to revisit it as my equipment and skills improve.

This was my first mosaic image, because I couldn't quite get enough room around the galaxy with my rig. That turned out to endgender a great deal of difficulty, since I'm traveling to my dark site every time and it's very difficult to get the gear set up exactly the same way -- or remember exactly what I did last time! (For example, do I run an LRGB sequence on each panel, or do L for all of them, then R, etc.).

So there was quite a bit of problem-fixing in the processing, but I think I've wrung most of the really obvious problems out.

I have only one date listed, but this was done over 6 different nights. Between the different nights, rejecting bad frames, and three separate goes at processing over three weeks, I really can't count how many frames of each went into this! I do know that I have almost as much luminance as R, G, and B combined.
