Description

As an experiment, I swapped out my mono 6200MM camera for the 2400MC OSC camera on my Hypergraph8.    With this set-up, I decided to image the Markarian Chain - simply because a) I had attempted it before and b) it was about as well positioned as it was going to get for the year from these parts. [Albeit since remaining below an airmass of 2 for most of the observations]

Despite elevation, my poor seeing and the RGGB Bayer matrix all being against a detailed images, I was interested to see just how much I could recover with the RC Astro tools

The result surprised me.  Through a careful itnerative process, I was able to extract a fair bit of detail..  I partcularly liked the detailed in M84 and M86 with both giant ellipticals showing structure in their stellar envelopes and a pleasing colour gradient out from their centres.   I may have pushed the saturation a little too far, but I still like this more colourful version.

While it doesn't compare with the best out there, I don't think its too bad for an OSC and an average z.d. of 64degrees.
