Description

M41 is 4 degrees away from Sirius, 2350 ly from us. It is 25 light years across.

Can you spot the question mark asterism?

The earlier revisions of this image were taken with a Canon7D. This image was taken with the qhy 9 ccd and filters. Most in the Ha and Lum channel. With a mix of 30, 60 and 120s exposures. There are 5 30s exposures for each of RGB. No darks or flats for the RGBs. No flats for the Ha+Lum filters.

No autoguiding until my guidescope arrives. So this is pure eqalign, ieq45, and sigma stacking doing their thing.

Plate solves correctly with my local astrometry. Won't plate solve here (?!?).
