Description

The Dolphin Head formed a "Pigeon Pair" with the Dragons of Ara over the last two nights observing [ed: enough of the animals get on with the AP]

Unfortunately I am much less happy with the Dolphin than the Dragons.

First, it is a much fainter targett. Even with 9 hours data it is still undercooked.

Second the bright star at the edge of the nebula shows up all the flaws in the NB filters. Particularly the ZWO Ha filter which has a very different reflection pattern to the [OIII] filter. (I suspect this may be because the difference in the AR coating. There is clearly only one way to insert the Ha filter - whereas the [OIII] can go in either way round. )

Anyhow, it difficult to motivate oneself to take even more data, when your Dolphin emerges from the gloom with a tattoo in the middle of its forehead.

[OIIi]: 72 x 300sec

Ha: 36x 300sec
