Description

First light with my dual narrowband NBZ and diy Ha-modified SL1 dSLR. I shot this with my 500mm Canon lens, since I could adapt its filter holder to accept the 2" NBZ filter. However that lens is already overweight on my little tracker, and even though it does ok with short exposures, using narrowband and 300" results in a bit of egging. So I know the stars are not perfect but it was still really fun to be able to capture the Pacman! I may try to do a starless version as well to avoid the distraction. The SL1 (100D) is a pretty low end camera, so I was not even expecting this good of results, especially in hot summer conditions and no darks (for some reason Siril was giving me errors so I ended up nto using any calibration frames at all for this one). If I can get it to calibrate, I'll upload a new revision. The SL1 I was not really using anymore, and it was not expensive so I used it to test my skills to do the astro modification myself. I think it was a success! I may try next on one of my other cameras. I shot at F/5 since the lens also shows some aberrations and thought it might help, probably should have shot at full f/4 since I ended up with a bit of egging anyhow.

Description: Reprocess from the original stack. This was my first time splitting the channels and processing separately. I like this version with some blue color better than the original all red version. Plus, I minimized the stars, which were slightly egged because I am so under-mounted. The stars were shot in narrowband so not perfect anyway, but I like this result much better. Sorry the angle changed from revisions, I kept this one original orientation it was shot at.
