Description

This object is a rarely imaged galaxy group, anchored by the magnitude 10.4 bright lenticular galaxy NGC 584 located 65 million light years away in the constellation of Cetus at a declination of -7 degrees. The galaxy spans 5 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 100,000 light years.

Although all of the galaxies in the image are between 65 and 90 million light years away, none are close enough to be interacting with the possible exception of NGC 584 and NGC 586.
