Description

The Star Analyser 100 is a spectroscopic grating embedded in a 1.25" filter holder. In combination with the RSpec-software one can analyse the light of stars, quasars, other compact objects like planetary nebulas or planets. This allows one to detect methane in the atmosphere of Neptune, measure the redshift of quasars or just classify a star by its spectral lines - or decompose the ring nebula. The zero-order spectrum (the image of the M57) can be seen on the left, the decomposed images of M57 in OIII / Ha light are on the right. I used Vega's (Spectral type A0) clearly detectable hydrogen-Balmer-lines to calibrate the distance in pixels to the corresponding wavelength. The spectrum of Vega and a version with annotations can be found in the revisions. I compressed and scaled down the images so the pixelscale will only fit the 35MB version on my HD ;-)
