Description

Moon 46% (20220310) - A 4 panel mosaic, with TS140/910 at 720p What’s in the picture(s) - Moon 46%

What was the experience
Spring and Summer nights are getting very short, and whatever night has clear skies, is generally smothered with some clouds. So, DSO-shooting has been ‘on hold’ since early March.

In the meantime I had been processing most of the data I had captured earlier this year. One of the things I had captured early March, was a moon sequence captured with my TS94 scope. In parallel, I also had captured the moon with my TS140/910mm scope, giving a much higher level of detail. With the ASI2600 at 720p, this gave me 4 panels with 1/4 of the moon each … but I never had come around at stitching them together … until now 😎😉

How it was done
Scope: TS140 APO (FL 910mm)
Mount: CEM70G
Camera: ASI2600MM Pro
Filter: Baader Red
Photons: 20220310 20:50cet, 720p, 1ms Gain 325, 150s video, 20% stacked, 4x
Processing: AutoStakkert, RegiStax, Adobe Lightroom (Mac)

What have I learned from this
I had done a photoMerge before, but a 4 panel mosaic originally gave me some artefacts in the stitching. Care must be taken of the edges of each of the panels. To be on the safe side, I did this step by step, first stitching the terminator panels together and then the eastern rim separately, before stitching those two together.

Clear Skies everybody! 🤩✨🔭
