Description

The beauty that is found in Orion:

This image has at least 4 nebulas found in Orion -one of which can be seen with the unaided eye (M42 - the Great Orion Nebula). The Flame Nebula is partially visible

The 4 nebulas that are present are:

The Flame

The Horsehead (deep red nebulosity by Alnitak - the left-most star in the belt)

The Running Man (bluish nebula above the Great Orion Nebula - the "top of the sword")

The Great Orion Nebula.

Usually, I shoot on a telescope, but this image was not possible with a telescope due to the wide field necessary to capture such a large part of the sky. This wide-field frame was shot on a Nikon D750 with a Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 lens at 200mm on a full-frame sensor.

This was 132 frames, stacked and tracked, but no guiding, on a Celestron AVX mount.

Lights: 132 - @ 30s ISO 1600, f5.6

Flats: 50

Darks: 50

Bias: 180

Imaging Camera: Unmodified Nikon D750

Lens: Sigma 70-200 f2.8

Mount: Celestron AVX

No guiding done

Processing: PixInsight
