Description

This has been an exceptional week! After NGC 1499 California Nebula and Caldwell 49, Rosette Nebula, I was able to collect data over two consecutive clear winter nights on new targets. The first object of the imaging sequence is IC 405 aka. "The Flaming Star Nebula" in constellation Auriga. After researching some information about the object, I've learned that gas isn't illuminated through a star formed in the nebula (namely star AE Auriga) but the star moves through the nebula coming from outside at high velocity creating a bow shock and electromagnetic radiation.
The B-V index of AE Auriga is +0.22 which means that it's got a hint of yellow instead of being pure white as one might be able to notice on the image.

With some effort in image processing, I was able to pull out some fainter detail in the background.

Enjoy and as always: feel free to comment.
