Description

How often do we see the movement of stars over our lifespan. This image is an animation of one quadrant of the Rosette Nebula of images from 1953, 1990 and 2013. It was inspired by Steve Cannistra. You can see his animation, explanation and star ID at http://www.starrywonders.com/animatedtotal.html. Thank you Steve.

The 1963 and 1990 Rosette images were downloaded from the The STScI Digitized Sky Survey databases, POSS1 and POSS2 (http://stdatu.stsci.edu/cgi-bin/dss_form). The 2013 Rosette image was generously offered by Mitch Trilling of the Chicago group, the Northwest Suburban Astronomers. Thank you Mitch.
