Data provided from /u/PixInsightFTW..FINALLY got around to processing it now that I bought PI
Image was captured in LHaRGB and processed in PixInsight 1.8 RC7.
Summary of processing steps:
- Images StarAligned (not sure if this was necessary, but I did it anyway)
- RGB images combined..following formula for R frame (.75R+.15Ha+.1L)
- Image cropped to remove corner gradient, same DynamicCrop applied to L frame
- DBE run on RGB (~65 points)..this data was AMAZINGLY clean, so easy to find quality points at radius of 12. ALL 65 points used radius of 12.
- BackgroundNeutralization and ColorCalibration run using core of the galaxy as the white reference and corner of image as background reference.
- NR via ATWT/SCNR to remove green (very minimal impact, though I think I overdid the ATWT NR on the RGB image as I have some ringing around the stars)
- RGB image stretched using values from STF and applied in HTF.
Same process for L frame, minus BGN and CC.
- Combined LRGB image using .600 lightness and .400 saturation settings.
- Tweaked HTF to darken the BG and make the galaxy stand out a little more.
- Cloned L frame and jacked up the contrast to isolate the galaxy and applied as a mask to LRGB image
- CurvesTransformation to bring out the color via a saturation boost, think I over did it with the pinks as the largest pink area seems slightly blown out.
- Opened up ColorSaturation tool to boost the areas of the image with the most prominent color (blues/redishpurples)
- LocalHistogramEqualization to bring out more detail of the dust lanes/arms.
- StarMask generation and MorphologicalTransformation to reduce the star brightness and make galaxy stand out
- One more NR via TGVDenoise
- Rotated and cropped
