Description

M1, the first object Charles Messier put in his catalog. Also known as the Crab nebula, this star went supernova in 1054 A.D. and was recorded in Chinese records as a "guest star" as bright as Venus even during the day. To us, it looks frozen in time, but it is still exploding outward at incredible speeds.
