Description

Often referred to as the "Heart of the Heart", Melotte 15 lies at the center of IC1805 - the Heart Nebula. The designation referrers to the cluster of O-type stars that are responsible for forming the main shape of the Heart Nebula. The stellar winds from these massive young stars are also the force that sculpted the interesting pillars of dust that are the focus of this image.

The color palette is a custom pixel math blend where the red channel is a mix of Ha and SII, the green channel is a mix of Ha and OIII, and the blue channel is a mix of OIII and SII. The blend is nothing particularly special, and produces a rather unremarkable image. However, this image gives a good starting point for further color tuning.
