Description

It's been two weeks since the smoke descended on us. During that time I have not once seen our Sol, much less any stars at night, despite it being essentially cloudless. Then, yesterday afternoon, I saw faint shadows out my window. Running to the other side of the house I looked out and gawked in disbelief as if I were some ancient sun worshipper, seeing god for the first time. The sun had emerged! I quickly grabbed my Canon, RedCat and mask and ran out to take pictures. Five minutes was all I had. Five minutes was enough. Here, for my friends and colleagues in the Northwest and California under the smoky dome I give you five minutes.

If it matters: 1/4000, f4.9, ISO1600. Three images about two minutes apart, quickly stacked in Photoshop. One slight exposure adjustment, one slight bit of sharpening (transparency was so bad, you understand). No further fuss was needed. Reality itself was picture enough.
