Description

Tonight we had a huge show of the northern lights despite the aurora activity being average at best. The weather forecast has been a bit inaccurate recently with very cloudy predictions, but the reality has been pleasant with lots of clear skies and auroras on every night. The auroras however have been a bit faint and nothing too explosive, but that changed today. I was keeping an eye on the sky from my balcony every now and then and saw multiple big faint aurora arcs overhead for maybe 2 hours. I didn't bother going out for those. Then at some point they got bright and had very unique shapes so I ran outside to nearby lake located 100m from my house. The second i arrive they get bright and the entire sky rains down. At first I said "holy F----!", but that very fast turned into an "Oh F----!" Because the "low battery" icon on my camera popped up and I realized it was the only one I had with me.
