Description

This and a straight LRGB version posted separately are my first effort with decent data that I got using iTelescope (my own gear still on backorder) and a second PI workflow. Lots to go back and work on, but for the moment I need to move on and spend hours and hours staring at something different….. I’m curious, though, what methods others use to add Ha, or any narrowband I guess, to LRGB images, particularly with Pixinsight. I started off following the Light Vortex tutorial, but wasn’t able to create a red channel/Ha image like was shown and ultimately wasn’t getting the effect I wanted using the equation given to add it back to the red channel. So instead, I created a range selection mask from the Ha image, subtracted a star mask, cloned out the remaining halos and finally depreciated the core as much as possible without too much impact on the structures to come up with a mask to target the Ha a little better when adding it to the red channel.

Images used were pre-calibrated.
