Description

Starting with a "scientific" SPCC-calibrated baseline, the R/G/B channels were adjusted to have varying blends of the calibrated Ha and OIII depending on the strength of one over the other, with the resulting HSO-adjacent palette. A similar but slightly different result was achieved before by Frank Breslawski but I think the initial calibration led to a different outcome. The stars still reflect the calibrated baseline. I normally like to do RGB stars but I really wanted to show the capability of SPCC's narrowband calibration and I think the result is nice. I didn't want to push the data too hard but I did manage to bring out a bit of the Ha "umbilical cord" that links up to the Ha cradling the main nebula. This is not a context one often sees in images of Abell 21, so I really wanted to at least make it visible, if only slightly. With additional time, I think it could be even more prominent.
