After a couple of years of practice with my Samyang 135, I felt ready to purchase my first refractor
. Quite slower, but four times the focal length!
I started experiments the day before, so strictly speaking this is the second light.
That's a pretty low target for my site that culminates only 19 degrees above the horizon, but it was the best time of year for it, so I decided to give it a try. It took me a year to find the time to process the stack, but here it is finally.
This was made before the second re-filtering of my EOS6D, so the raw stack still suffers from the
elongated stars problem. A little RL deconvolution helped to fix them.
I don't have experience from other refractors but coming from the Samyang, I'm pretty pleased with the image quality
. Except in the very corners, the stars are pretty tight. There is some chromatism, but that remains reasonable. Can't wait for the next opportunity to play with it!
