Description

A supernova remnant  in the Milky Way, straddling the border between the constellations Auriga and Taurus. It is about 3,000 light-years away, and estimated to be 40,000 years old. It spans 160 light-years across and is so big in the sky that if you could see it with the naked eye it would span the size of 8 full moons lined up! And, it is still expanding at the rate of 100 km/sec, (62 miles/sec.)    This is 18 hrs of Oxygen data and 10 hours of Hydrogen, combined with 1 hr of RGB stars.  Taken with a Radian Raptor 61 scope with a focal length of 275mm, it still doesn't quite fit. ZWO 2600mm camera. Bortle 4.5 Sedona, Arizona skies with the last night of shooting under 1/2 moon.
