Description

Solar Sunspot AR 2833, June 18

Another day of fantastic seeing for solar imaging! For this shot, I used a really wide region of interest (ROI) to frame the sun's limb with the sunspot. I had to rotate the camera a bit to get the active region and sunspot in the "sweet spot" of my Quark solar filter. Because of the larger ROI, I was only able to record at about 22fps and I shot a little under a 1000 frames, and then stacked only 3% of them with AutoStakkert 3. I tried a stack of 10%, but it just didn't look as good to me. I used IMPPG for sharpening, and Photoshop to finish the processing and add false color. Big thanks to Martin Wise with Wise Imaging and his fantastic solar processing video on YouTube. It's helped me really do better solar photos. I plan on making some solar tutorials myself on my YouTube channel in the next couple weeks.
