Description

Despite stormy weather, I’ve been crabbing in Taurus with some success, using my 8” LX5 SCT.

1.6 hours data taken last Thursday morning using my Baader Ha 7nm filter, were combined with 3 hours taken through my Optolong dual band filter on 11 Nov, captured, pre-processed and aligned in Nebulosity.

I’ve combined these in Startools and processed as a dual band image (Ha mapped to LR and L-enHance mapped to GB channels.

The mouse over includes the addition of 12 x 300s OIII (Baader 8.5nm) to this giving a more subdued version. I’m interested in which version you like most (or least).

Title: With 10 x 300s OIII 8.5nm mapped to G

Description: With 50m extra OIII (mapped to green), this provides a more ‘natural’ view of this iconic SN remenant, which reputedly outshone the midday sun for 20 days in 1054 AD.

Title: With extra 50m (5 x600s) exposure L-eNhance

Description: I've added a further 50m (5 x 300s) exposures thought my L-eNhance filter to try and bring out some more detail, which I think has been helpful. The final image is 6.5 hours data (Nov-Dec 2021) comprising 120m Ha as L; 50m LeNh +120m Ha as R;100m LeNh as G, and 40m OIII as B. Composed in Startools using a standard workflow with moderate deconvolution and sharpening, background suppression and noise reduction.
